During my senior year at Northeastern University from July to December 2015, I was part of a team of five engineers tasked with the design of a proof of concept device for optical detection of stress fractures in human feet, specifically the metatarsals, utilizing near-infrared technology. We helped to prove a doctor’s proof of concept and develop a machine for hopeful future use with diagnosing patients more effectively than available options. Images of depth intensities and resolution optimization from tests we conducted on the device can be furnished upon request.
As part of the Northeastern Baja team, I help modify, design, and build a baja car (similar to a small off-road dune buggy). During my involvement, I helped make the suspension, chassis, steering system, transmission, fiber glass molds, supports, framing, and obtained over $10,000 in funding as well as connections for team access to resources such as a water jet.
During my time with Northeastern University, I also participated, as a member and brotherhood development director, in resurrecting the Zeta Beta Tau Greek life organization. We grew from 12 members at my alpha class involvement, to over 60 members, national recognition, the 2013 National colony of the Year award, philanthropic events for local establishments/causes, and a place for aspiring Northeastern huskies to be a part of something bigger.
I also played on the Northeastern men’s rugby A & B squad teams for my first 2.5 years, playing in over 20 matches.
